Adult Aran Sweaters * Pattern #20

$6.00

The Adult Aran sweater is a simplified Aran. Many Aran sweaters are confusing to knit because the pattern sts all happen on different rows and it’s challenging to keep track of them. The pattern stitches in this sweater fall on the same rows so it is easy to follow.

The sweater is knit with worsted wt yarn and it is knit in pieces and then sewn together.

Keep in mind that cables tend to pull-in while seed st tends to lay flat. Don’t worry, the cables will “relax” after washing your sweater by hand and lay it flat to dry. I suggest not steaming because you could easily over block and flatten out the cables.

Don’t be intimidated by this sweater, if you haven’t knit an Aran sweater before this is a great one to start with. Also, don’t read too far ahead when following your instructions or you may get all confused….just read a row or 2 ahead. The first Aran sweater that I ever knit was when I was 19 and living in Maine for the summer without my mother nearby….. I was panicked and thought I couldn’t knit it if I didn’t have her there to help. I just went slowly, kept track of my rows and it turned out great

Available in English only as a PDF download (not a paper pattern).
